The Florida Keys are made up of around 800 islands, 42 of which are linked by bridges and offer something for everyone. For families, the Upper and Lower Keys are the place to be with an abundance of water sports and activities. For couples or groups, head further south to Key West.

Key West, probably the best known of all the Florida Keys, combines history and culture with great nightlife, fantastic water sports and a Caribbean style laid back attitude. Visit Ernest Hemingway's home in the Old Town with its ornate architecture and well-preserved buildings. Take part in one of the popular activities including snorkeling, diving, fishing and boating. You can also swim with dolphins, enjoy a sunset sail or venture into the Everglades National Park for a walk on the wild side. Visit the Key West Aquarium, the first of its kind in America, a perfect place to admire indigenous sea creatures.

Every evening Mallory Square swings into action to celebrate the sun going down. Street performers, fire-eaters, unicyclists and mime artists all congregate to entertain – if you manage to catch the sun going down that’s a bonus!

Head to the biggest of the Keys, Key Largo for a peaceful and quiet atmosphere. Although an isle, this gorgeous piece of paradise has so much going for it, it's hard to know where to start. There are the dazzling white sands that dip down into America's only coral reef, the enchanting everglades sitting right on your doorstep and let's not forget that it's dubbed the Dive Capital of the World. You'll find 800 square miles of protected offshore reef here, along with the 9-foot Christ of the Deep bronze statue resting at the bottom. If you don't want to get wet, hop on a glass bottom boat tour or kayak through the mangrove trails.

With so many fun activities to choose from cycling to snorkeling, swimming with dolphins to nature walks the Florida Keys are an ideal holiday choice for adults and children alike.
